About Us
A two-person UK studio building software we want to use ourselves.
Our Story
We're Some Kind of Software Company, an independent two-person studio based in the UK. We started this because we were tired of apps that treat their users as a growth metric. We believe apps should stand on their own merits, and that the people using them are the customer, not data brokers or ad networks.
We are not trying to be the biggest. We are trying to make a small number of apps very well, and then keep them working for years.
Our first product, FoxFit, came from our own frustration with existing workout trackers. None of them were private, none of them were well designed, and most of them were trying to sell us a transformation we did not ask for.
So we built it ourselves.
How We Build Software
We have been writing software for around twenty years between us, and the way we build it has changed a lot. Today we use AI tools heavily. Agents write a lot of the code. We make the product decisions, define what we want, review what comes back, and test the result.
This is not about cutting corners. Every feature still goes through code review, automated tests, and several rounds of iteration before it ships. The AI does the typing. We do the judgement, the quality control, and the accountability.
We are open about this because we think it is the honest way to describe how software gets made now. What you pay for is not us typing syntax, it is us deciding what to build and knowing when it is ready. That part is still entirely ours.
What We Believe
One app, done properly
We would rather ship one app we are proud of than ten we are not. The work goes into the bits you do not see as much as the bits you do.
Your data does not leave your iCloud
We do not run servers that store your information. We do not have analytics on individual users. There is nothing for us to leak, sell, or hand over.
We build for the people who use it
The people we listen to are the ones who paid to download the app, not investors looking for engagement charts. If a feature exists, it is because someone actually asked for it.
No exit, no acquisition, no IPO
We are not building this to flip it. We are building it so we can keep working on it for years, and so you can rely on it not disappearing in a year.
Where the money goes
Every pound that comes in goes to two places: paying us, and paying for the things that keep the apps running (App Store fees, hosting for this website, the developer accounts). There is no third party getting a slice.
We are not trying to become a "platform", get acquired, or raise a round. We are trying to write software, get paid for it, and do that again next year.
